The Mongolian soloist quartet Tengerton will unveil “Ilch,” their new album (marking the 20th anniversary of Routes Nomades), upon its release (CD and digital) on September 25, 2026 via Buda Musique / Routes Nomades / Socadisc.

After An Anthology of Mongolian Khöömii, Khusugtun’s Jangar, Batsükh Dorj’s
Ögbelerim and within the framework of its 20th anniversary, Routes Nomades produces
the first album of TENGERTON.
The poetic meaning of this new quartet of super soloists is a sound came from the sky
through the yurt’s crown. Their first album, Ilch – symbolizes gentle human and musical
warmth – is shaped by the morin khuur horse-head fiddle and the captivating khöömii
throat singing, the two emblematic elements of Mongolian culture. Born in 2023 from the
legendary Egshiglen, this four-generation-ensemble crosses traditional and classic
Mongolian music with contemporary musical experiences. The blues, flamenco, jazz
influences can be savoured, while the chamber music arrangements enhance the
steppe music. Tengerton reveals its richness in the quartet’s subtle sound, the beauty of
the vocals, and the precision of the rhythmic, all delivered with perfectly controlled
energy. The virtuosity of their music is imbued with nuances like the reflections of clouds
drifting across the landscape.
