Behind the creation of “Exaltação“, there is a long history of encounters and exchanges between 4 musicians united by MARCOS D. PROJECT, which bring the compositions Marcos de Oliveira (words and music) to life with power and generosity. Over the last 6 years, during these intensely creative shared moments, a new and refreshing musical form has sprung into existence: it is la nova bossa, inspired by the great Brazilian composers. Within each of the album’s 9 tracks can be found the unique spirit of sharing so vital for musicians.
A message of hope
“Exaltação” is also an album which conveys a tremendous message of hope, of a better tomorrow.
The album also evokes a new dream, where the power of words and music are capable of transforming our surroundings. As well as their emotional strength; the sounds and words of Marcos de Oliveira are quite simply jubilant.
‘Exaltação’ : an exotic elation
Just like the Brazilian word ‘saudade’, it is no easy task to convey all the different shades of meaning contained in the Brazilian ‘Exaltação’. Apart from the word itself, we must know the history of the Brazil that Marcos de Oliveira sings about, as he goes deep into its roots, expressing the full force of his patriotic and deep love for this gigantic Brazilian land.
For this album, as inspirational as it is inspired, Marcos de Oliveira (vocals, guitar and flute) is joined by a group of well-known musicians from the world of jazz, Ewerton Oliveira (piano, Fender Rhodes), Zaza Desiderio (drums and percussion) and Greg Théveniau (bass). The 9 song album was recorded at ‘Nuage 7’ studio in Lyon on 26 and 27 September in near live conditions with sound engineered by Jean- Luc Briançon.
The resulting disc reveals all the creative emulation and closeness linking the four members of the MARCOS D. PROJECT.
