Forró de Rebeca and Maga BO present “Sociedade Recreativa”

Merging of the combo Forró de Rebeca, which gathers its inspiration in the large North-East Brazilian cultures (Samba de Coco, Capoeira, Baiao, Maracatu…), and the US producer Maga Bo, also founder of “Tropical Bass”, Sociedade Recreativa invites to a powerful journey in the heart of an imaginary territory where electronic arrangements give new life to the ancestral rythms. All is about meetings… Specially in Lyon, french capital of indie music and electronic cultures. Bene ting of a privilegiated playground – “les pentes” (slopes) of Croix Rousse, the musicians of Forró de Rebeca and the universal beats ambassador Maga Bo met during the summer 2014. They immediately get along with each other! Their paths are crossing exactly where the North-estearn roots of the franco-brazilian trio dives into the electronic music deep waters, while Maga Bo, living in Rio de Janeiro for fteen years, can’t stop focusing on the Brazilian Nordeste. The artists multiply the trips between Lyon and Rio de Janeiro. From one shore to the other, Sociedade Recreativa keeps experimenting and nally creates a new style, an « half-way » transatlantic sound. They book an appointment to record their rst album during the summer 2015. The musical palette of the project is enrich by other artistic meetings, such as the Occitan ow of Papet J (Massilia Sound System) or Flavia Coelho’s feline voice. Then comes the step of the explosive live show creation. Thanks to the help of La Cité de la Musique de Romans and the Projet Bizarre in Venissieux, the artists move directly from studio recording to artistic residencies. On stage, the festive energy of Forró de Rebeca troubadours naturally mixes up with Maga Bo’s musical patchwork. The music themes find a new meaning, somewhere between contemporary music innovation and traditions sophistication. ***** INFORMATION Facebook: Sociedade Recreativa Youtube: Clip Boa Noite feat. M’Toro Chamou presents “Punk Islands”

M’Toro Chamou was born in Mayotte, a French overseas department in the Comoros archipelago. An island that has been in flux since becoming part of France, and also embroiled in controversy. Singer, author, composer and guitarist, he is one of the emblematic figures of Mayotte music, songs and messages that will leave their mark on Mayotte forever. His style is a mix of traditional music and modern Western influences such as folk, pop, rock and blues. M’Toro means “brown”, and the Watoro (plural of M’Toro) were the first slaves who fled the plantations or from servitude to the sedan chair (fitako). Such an evocative name already speaks volumes about this revolutionary. It is the music of old that M’Toro Chamou brings to the stage, arranged so that everyone can listen, appreciate and love it without needing to understand the language of Mayotte. The music of M’Toro Chamou builds, through the strength of his melodies and messages, a bridge between differences, between tradition and modernity, between Mayotte and the rest of the world. After spending 16 years in the Metropolis M’Toro Chamou returned to the Indian Ocean, specifically to the island of Reunion, where he recorded the new album with Reunionmusicians, the “bann kréols”. In November 2015 he received recognition via the trophy for best Mayotte artist at the V.O.I (Voice of the Indian Ocean). ***** INFORMATION Website: mtorochamou.com Facebook: M’Toro Chamou – Officiel You Tube: Live Sauvage

Singer songwriter, “artivist”, producer, Seheno was born in Madagascar, she comes from a family of renowned Malagasy musicians, founders of the famous pop band “Ny Railovy“. Her musical upbringing was nurtured by her malagasy roots, a crossover of Africa & Indian Ocean and her attachment for non-conformism and diversity. A border free artist, her new album “Hazo Kely” brings ethnic, electronic, blues and pop influences together. Organic and hybrid sound textures mingle with her sensous voice, opening into exotic dreamlands resonating in colorful and groovy Malagasy and English. Pierre Bensusan on tour in France

Back in 1974, Pierre Bensusan was cutting his teeth as a performer on the folk scene in Paris and other cities in France when one of his idols, banjo great Bill Keith, offered him his first official paying gig ever touring Western Europe with his bluegrass band. The French-Algerian upstart, humbly launching a four decade career which would earn him worldwide renown as the “Mozart of Guitar,” was hired to play mandolin. But when Keith heard his groundbreaking approach to the acoustic guitar, he decided to allow Bensusan a few key spotlights on that instrument. Decades later, when Bensusan was looking for potential finishing touches for “Encore”, his ambitious and expansive retrospective collection celebrating 40 years as a globetrotting live performer, he discovered a reel to reel tape with a Swiss National Radiorecording of a concert in Lausanne from that tour. While the tireless troubadour’s original plan for the 3-CD set was to include tracks recorded between 1998 and 2013 in France, Canada, Ireland, Austria and especially the U.S. (where he regularly records), Bensusan decided to round out the 35-track set by starting “Disc 2” with a set of five titles from this show, including two bluegrass songs. Engineered in Los Angeles by Grammy winner Rich Breen, Encore also includes a handful of songs featuring Bensusan’s beautiful French language vocals (“Cordilliere” and “Pas Sage,” among others) and wordless vocalese (“Bamboul’hiver”); two cuts with future Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess from a commissioned 1998 concert in Northern France that included a 200-piece children’s choir (including the previously unreleased “Anthem For The Ocean”); and the 18-minute setpiece “Celtic Medley.” In all, Encorefeatures 11 tracks never previously released commercially in any form. ***** INFORMATION Website: pierrebensusan.com Facebook: Pierre Bensusan Twitter: Pierre Bensusan YouTube: Pierre Bensusan

Tukkiman presents « Tukki »

The basis of Tukkimans compositions in the TUKKI album is the acoustic guitar, his primary instrument. It is layered over the assiko «urban» drum, dispersed throughout and accompanied by cello or double bass. In these songs, he skillfully combines singing and rap fused between pop, rock and African rhythms. The desire is to convey a message of freedom and an optimistic vision of Africa. The album title, TUKKI, means to travel and focuses on the migration of peoples and the fusion of cultures, especially musically. Tukkiman believes in a world without borders and the ability to travel being an indespensible source of richness and freedom. Today’s political restrictions prevent freedom of movement. Fortunately, music stands on its own in its limitless mobility. This is the voice of Tukkiman in the songs Tukki and We Will Survive – both considered to be an ode to immigrants. Let’s rock to this is a joyful blend of rock and rap, composed by Tukkiman upon his arrival to Europe. While working regularly within the U.S. between Chicago and New York, he observed the pressure of work, money and notoriety. Take Me High is the cry of those who want to achieve this American Dream. In All I Know, he explains that the uncertainty of life can have its advantages. Finally, Shine Bright highlights the common mantra of reaping what you sow and internal con icts that we experience. ***** INFORMATION Website: tukkiman.com Facebook: Tukkiman YouTube: You reap what you sow
