Argentinian composer, pianist and arranger Lalo Zanelli<\/strong> has just unveiled \u2018Solar<\/strong>\u2019, his fourth album under his own name, to mark its release (on CD and digitally) on 13 March 2026<\/strong> via Buda Musique \/ Socadisc.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve called this album “Solar<\/strong>“, after one of the tracks. “Solar<\/strong>“, like hope, the light that always returns, guiding us through life. I\u2019d like to dedicate it to that, to the hope of a better world. The album is a collection of microcosms, written over the last four or five years. These pieces are true to my world, where I blend the music that is dear to me, that inspires me naturally and that has accompanied me throughout these years.<\/em><\/p>\n

Although I was steeped in the music of my homeland, tango<\/strong> and Argentine folk<\/strong>, as a pre-teen musician in Buenos Aires<\/strong>, I immersed myself in rock<\/strong>. Upon my arrival in Paris<\/strong> in 1983<\/strong>, I discovered jazz<\/strong>, which I have never strayed from since. Then, I rediscovered tango<\/strong>, \u2018in Paris!<\/strong>\u2019, Argentine folk music<\/strong>, and the music and rhythms of the world<\/strong>. At the same time, my studies immersed me in orchestral composition for film music<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n

My experiences as a pianist<\/strong>, arranger<\/strong> and composer<\/strong> have been enriching, working with countless artists from such diverse backgrounds as Gotan Project, Fran\u00e7ois Beranger, Daniel Melingo, Alfredo Arias<\/strong>\u2026 and many others in the world of jazz<\/strong>. All these experiences are reflected in this album, which I describe as binary: between action and contemplation<\/strong>, between rage and introspection<\/strong>, between \u2018clouds and sunshine<\/strong>\u2019, as illustrated on the cover.<\/em><\/p>\n

I was able to create this music thanks to the participation of some of my old musician friends, whom I call La Orquesta Modulable la Buena Uni\u00f3n<\/strong>, and whom I have the honour of introducing: (Magic) Malik Mezzadri, Minino Garay, Didier Ithursarry, Simon Drappier, Javier Estrella, Leandro Guffanti, Diego Lipy, No\u00e9 Codjia and Fabrizio Colombo<\/strong>. But also thanks to the participation of my two daughters, Ma\u00ebla and Margo Zanelli.<\/strong>\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Biography of Lalo Zanelli :<\/strong><\/p>\n

A composer, pianist and arranger, Lalo Zanelli<\/strong> was born in Buenos Aires<\/strong> in 1959<\/strong> and has lived in France<\/strong> since 1983<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In Buenos Aires<\/strong>, he taught himself to play the guitar at a very early age. For his first concerts at the age of 13, he immersed himself in rock music in its various forms. Later, he studied piano and composition with Luis Maria Corallini.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In Paris<\/strong>, he discovered jazz and \u2018rediscovered\u2019 tango. He studied under Gustavo Beytelman, Bernard Maury and Fran\u00e7ois Jeanneau<\/strong>\u2026 From 1984 to 1986, he attended the Film Music Composition<\/strong> course led by Laurent Petit Girard<\/strong> at the \u00c9cole Normale de Musique<\/strong>, where he was unanimously awarded First Prize<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

He divides his time between performing and composing.<\/p>\n

Lalo Zanelli<\/strong> formed the septet, then the OMB\u00da<\/strong> quintet in 1993, a vehicle for his own unique and original musical language through which his many influences are expressed; with them he recorded three albums.<\/p>\n

His fourth solo album, \u2018Solar<\/strong>\u2019, has just been released by Buda Musique<\/strong>. This time, he has surrounded himself with some of his old musician friends to form a unique ensemble offering a more varied sound palette: La Orquesta Modulable la Buena Uni\u00f3n.<\/strong><\/p>\n

His compositions have been re-recorded and performed by various artists such as Fran\u00e7ois Beranger, Minino Garay, Daniel Mille, Fabrice Allemand, Pierre Bertrand, Mandy Lerouge, Martin Bruhn, Fernando Fiszbein\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

He is currently working on orchestrations and arrangements of his own works for a nine-piece chamber orchestra, following a commission from the Arsonic Auditorium and Creation Centre in Mons, Belgium<\/strong>. This is a new work intended for a one-off performance scheduled for 7 July 2026.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

He has collaborated on projects with artists from a variety of fields:<\/p>\n

Pianist and arranger (2001\u20132011) for the Gotan Project<\/strong>, with whom he toured the world, performing at the most prestigious festivals and concert halls (including the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and the Sydney Opera House<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

He was the pianist, arranger and composer for Fran\u00e7ois Beranger<\/strong>, with whom he recorded his last three albums (1996\u20132003).<\/p>\n

He has worked as a pianist, composer and arranger with Minino Garay<\/strong> on several albums, Try\u00f6<\/strong> (Ce que l\u2019on s\u00e8me), and in 2018 Mandy Lerouge<\/strong> entrusted him with the arrangements and piano for \u2018La Madrugada\u2019; he has also worked with Daniel Melingo<\/strong> on his European tours, as well as Francis Lalanne, Lulendo and Raul Paz\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lalo Zanelli<\/strong> is also a film composer: \u201cMa place au soleil\u201d (2007) starring Andr\u00e9 Dussollier, Nicole Garcia and Jacques Dutronc<\/strong>; \u201cCherche fianc\u00e9 tout frais pay\u00e9\u201d (2008) starring Claudia Lamy, Bruno Salomone and Claudia Cardinale.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He has worked in theatre for Alfredo Arias<\/strong> (\u201cMortadela\u201d, Moli\u00e8re Award 1993, \u201cFous de Folies\u201d at the Folies Berg\u00e8res in 1995 and \u201cLe Faust Argentin\u201d, 1996\u2026) and has composed numerous scores for plays and short films.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
