This opus will be presented on <strong>Thursday, March 20, 2025<\/strong>, on the stage of <strong>Le<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Triton (Paris)<\/strong> during an exceptional launch concert.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Xanthoula Dakovanou<\/strong> is a special singer-composer, whose work is inspired by musical traditions<br \/>\nof Greece and the wider Mediterranean and creates music that concerns modern societies.<br \/>\nHer musical works have been distinguished in the <strong>World Music Charts<\/strong> and have been presented<br \/>\nto important international festivals such as the <strong>Avignon Festival<\/strong>, <strong>the Athens-Epidaurus Festival<\/strong>,<br \/>\n<strong>Th\u00e9\u00e2tre du Ch\u00e2telet<\/strong>, <strong>Th\u00e9\u00e2tre de la Villette<\/strong>, <strong>les Suds \u00e0 Arles<\/strong>, <strong>All of Greece one Culture Festival<\/strong> etc. Her works have received the Auspices of the <strong>Greek Ministry of Culture<\/strong> three times until today.<\/p>\n<p>Album line-up :<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <strong>Xanthoula Dakovanou<\/strong>: artistic direction, arrangements, vocals<br \/>\n&#8211; <strong>Eugenia Toli Damavoliti<\/strong>: vocals<br \/>\n&#8211; <strong>Dimitris Sideris<\/strong>: Cretan lute, arrangements, vocals<br \/>\n&#8211; <strong>Sophia Efkleidou<\/strong>: cello, vocals<br \/>\n&#8211; <strong>Giorgos Zacharioudakis<\/strong>: flutes, Cretan bagpipes<br \/>\n&#8211; <strong>Solis Barki<\/strong>: percussion<br \/>\n&#8211; <strong>Christina Kouki<\/strong>: santur<br \/>\n&#8211; <strong>Argiro Reppa<\/strong>: vocals<br \/>\n&#8211; <strong>Anemi Vocal Ensemble<\/strong>: vocals<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Rizituals<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;is inspired by cretan vocal traditions, particularly by the cretan songs of Rizitika, creating<br \/>\nan ecstatic, female musical ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>Rizitiko is an ancient vocal tradition of Western Crete, which begins in the byzantine era. A jewel<br \/>\nof the greek immaterial cultural patrimony, this tradition is mainly unknown to the rest of the world<br \/>\nup to date. Traditionally, it is sung by men, a cappella.<\/p>\n<p>In this album we listen to rizitika songs about women in their different traditional roles: mother,<br \/>\ndaughter, sister, wife, mistress \u2013 but also an active search of the modern woman who seeks for her<br \/>\nown identity, combining elements of the tradition with urban modernity, creating new patterns<br \/>\ninto the globalized world that surrounds her.<\/p>\n<p>The dramaturgy of the album captures this search, using traditional Rizitika melodies which are<br \/>\ncombined with modern orchestrations, incorporating female polyphonies with byzantine and<br \/>\nmedieval elements, traditional and western instruments but also experimental elements and<br \/>\nimprovisations.<\/p>\n<p>Renown greek musicians participate in the album <strong><em>Rizituals<\/em><\/strong>, starting with the beautiful cretan<br \/>\nvoice of the singer <strong>Eugenia Toli Damavoliti<\/strong>, who sings with Xanthoula. <strong>Dimitris Sideris<\/strong> participates in the creative orchestrations and plays skillfully the cretan lute and e-bow, in a traditional but also experimental style. The talented violoncellist <strong>Sofia Eleidou<\/strong> interprets the oriental traditions with a unique style and improvises on her instrument. <strong>Giorgos Zacharioudakis<\/strong> plays multiple wind instruments and Solis Barki colors the ensemble with his percussive soundscapes.
