This new work will be presented live on stage on <strong>Thursday April 18, 2024<\/strong> at <strong>Studio de L\u2019Ermitage<\/strong> (Paris) with two guests :<strong>Youssef Hbeisch<\/strong> (Riqq) and <strong>Christian Fromentin<\/strong> (Violin).<\/p>\n<p>Ten years after they began working together on their first album, Wasla (2015), <strong>Tarek Abdallah<\/strong> and <strong>Adel Shams El Din<\/strong> have collaborated in total harmony to build this new opus. Their compositions follow the model of the Near Eastern musical suite, wasla, which links several sung and instrumental forms of different cycles in the same mode, <strong>maq\u00e2m<\/strong>. while retaining modal improvisation as a central element (taqsim mursal, unmeasured, and taqsim muwaqqa\u2019, measured), they continue using traditional rhythmic cycles, some of which had been abandoned, but they are also inventing new ones.<\/p>\n<p>This album consists of five instrumental suites based on five different modes\/maq\u00e2m: Nah\u00e2wand, Hig\u00e2zk\u00e2r, R\u00e2st, Bayy\u00e2t\u00ee and S\u00eek\u00e2h, whiche is the shortest one, contains only one vocal work.<\/p>\n<p>In Arabic, the word <strong>us\u00fbl<\/strong>, plural of asl, means <strong>\u201corigin, framework\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tarek Abdallah will unveil his new album &#8220;Ousoul&#8221; on its release March 15, 2024, on Buda Musique\/ Socadisc.
