Yasmine Kyd<\/strong> is a Paris<\/strong>-based singer\/songwriter of mixed origins. She grew up on the Atlantic coast of Brittany<\/strong>, listening to sounds from around the globe: Berber folk music (her dad\u2019s Algerian), jazz, soul, gospel, bossa nova and British pop music. Seamlessly piecing together her influences, she has a knack for melodies that stay with you, serviced by a distinctively mellifluous, yet powerful vocal presence.<\/p>\n

While her first album \u2018Earth Woman<\/strong>\u2018 (2010) featured a collection of sensitive soul ballads, with a warm acoustic production, her second album \u2018Mythical Creatures<\/strong>\u2018 (2013) was an elegantly produced collection of love songs to jazz and blues, with a hint of nu soul and hip hop, which was described as reminiscent of both Joni Mitchell<\/strong> and Erykah Badu<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Privacy Settings<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

An unapologetic claim to versatility, Yasmine<\/strong>\u2018s third album \u2018Privacy Settings<\/strong>\u2018 opens her palette to new experiences which could very well make this record something of a \u2018modern classic\u2019.<\/p>\n

Through Yasmine<\/strong>\u2018s words and the range of her musical choices, \u201cPrivacy Settings<\/strong>\u201d explores the fluctuating boundaries between privacy and exposure in the contemporary world, reflected in a musical journey taking you from a funky slightly dystopian story (That One Day), to an emotive jazz ballad (Is it Time to Go Home?), leading up to a filmed walkabout through the streets of Paris (Paris Jam 69), following an intimate reggae number (Personal), and culminating with a sensual North African acoustic sound picture (Neapolis).<\/p>\n
