KUKU<\/strong> valorously expresses his critical perspective on the dogma of organized religion, politics, and oppressive authorities on his new opus. Hailing from a moderately religious family and a former Muslim himself, these days, KUKU<\/strong> adopts an agnostic view in regards to religion. He advocates that there is no correlation between morality and religion. Some believers will be quick to oppose this view, perhaps some might find it blasphemous, hence to save them the trouble KUKU<\/strong> appropriately titles the album \u201cBallads & Blasphemy.<\/strong>\u201d On songs like \u201cOpen Your Eyes While You Pray\u201d he warns believers and followers to be vigilant of the corruption and malevolence of religion and authority. On \u201cEvil Doers\u201d he questions the omnipresence of God while evil perpetrators are at work. The Tony Allen inflected \u201cOw\u00f3\u201d talks about humanity\u2019s addiction to the concept of money.<\/p>\n

Alongside KUKU<\/strong>, Ballad & Blasphemy<\/strong> was co-produced by South African guitarist Mongezi Ntaka<\/strong> (Lucky Dube, Hugh Masakela). Afrobeat co-creator and drummer Tony Allen<\/strong> blesses two titles on the album. Drummer and composer Cyril Atef<\/strong> of CongopunQ\u2019s is featured on the song \u201cOpen Your eyes While You Pray.\u201d Cameroonian bassist extraordinare Hilaire Penda<\/strong> adds his special seasoning to a few titles, and French guitarist Misja Fitzgerald Michel<\/strong> is featured on the album\u2019s pensive final track.<\/p>\n
