Xanthoula Dakovanou<\/strong> will unveil her new album “Lamenta<\/strong>” on its release November 26, 2021<\/strong> on Quart de Lune <\/strong>\/ UVM Distribution<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Under the musical artistic direction of the greek singer Xanthoula Dakovanou<\/strong>, principal voice of Lamenta<\/em>, the creation of this album is inspired from the musical traditions of Epirus, Greece fusioned with post-rock and world jazz elements. Staged by the belgian choreographers of international reputation Koen Augustijnen<\/strong> and Rosalba Torres Guerrero<\/strong> (Siamese Cie<\/strong>), Lamenta is presented at ‘La Villette<\/strong>‘ in Paris<\/strong> (La Nef) the 13th and 14th of December 2021<\/strong>, after having been acclaimed by the press during the Avignon Festival 2021<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The music is particularly inspired from the ‘Mirolo\u00ef<\/strong>‘ traditions of Epirus \u2013 songs of lament related to the loss of a beloved. The album starts from the Mirolo\u00ef in its original form and glides towards more contemporary musical forms, influenced by post-rock and jazz.<\/p>\n

Sixteen renowned musicians have collaborated for this project, including special guests as the famous french jazzman Magic Malik<\/strong> but also Nikos Filippidis<\/strong>, one of the most acknowledged clarinet players in Greece nowadays. Musicians from the greek traditional scene (Kostas Filippidis<\/strong>-lute, Lefkothea Filippidi<\/strong>-voice, Avgerini Gatsi<\/strong>– voice, Dimitris Brendas<\/strong>-clarinet, Ourania Lampropoulou<\/strong>-santouri, Alexandros Rizopoulos<\/strong>-voice and percussion, Dimitris Katsoulis<\/strong>-violin, Stefanos Filos<\/strong>-violin, Thanassis Tzinas<\/strong>-voice) as well as musicians from the world jazz greek scene : Kleon Andoniou<\/strong> (electric guitar, voice), Antonis Maratos<\/strong> (bass), Panagiotis Katsikiotis ‘Tsiko’<\/strong> (drums), Stefanos Filos<\/strong> (violin) and Solis Barkis<\/strong> (percussion) have recorded with Xanthoula Dakovanou<\/strong> for this album.
